Our annual Bug Maine-ia event introduces museum guests to insects of all kinds; from honeybees to giant millipedes! Insect enthusiasts and experts will be on hand to guide you through the expansive, yet often itsy-bitsy world of these creepy crawlies.
Explore the many fascinating ways that bugs affect our lives; bugs as pets, pests, food, art, and pollinators! Join the buzzing at the Museum and get up close to some of the world’s most amazing insects! Check out a display of exotic butterflies, predict winter with fuzzy caterpillars, or hold a tarantula in the palm of your hand!

The Maine State Museum is open Tuesday through Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, closed Sunday, Monday, and all State holidays. Admission is $2 for adults; $1 for senior adults over age 62 and children 6-18 years of age; children under 6 free. Maximum charge for families is $6. Cash and checks only.
