Maine Childrens Home

Maine Children's Home (MCH) is a Waterville-based nonprofit organization dedicated to building and strengthening families and their children throughout Maine. Through the Maine Children's Home Center for Families, MCH brings together adoption, counseling, targeted case management, and young parent support services under one roof, making it easier for individuals and families to access coordinated care. Families benefit from smoother referrals between programs, more connected and continuous support, and services that can adapt as their needs change. MCH also provides seasonal assistance through its Christmas / Winter Essentials Program, helping strengthen families across Maine with hope, stability, and opportunity.

COUNSELING

Family Counseling Center is a state-licensed outpatient mental health program providing counseling for children, adults, couples, and families. Our experienced clinicians offer compassionate, evidence-based care in a welcoming environment and work closely with other Center for Families programs to provide coordinated support when additional services are needed.

ADOPTION

The Hague-Accredited Family Adoption Program provides comprehensive adoption services and lifelong support for adoptive parents, birth parents, and adoptees. As part of the Center for Families, the program can easily connect clients with counseling and other family support services throughout their adoption journey.

TARGETED CASE MANAGEMENT

Targeted Case Management (TCM) supports youth and their families who are navigating behavioral health challenges, intellectual disabilities, or significant medical conditions. Case managers partner with families to assess their strengths and needs, develop individualized care plans, connect them with community resources and treatment providers, and monitor progress over time. As part of the Maine Children's Home Center for Families, TCM works closely with counseling, adoption, and young parent support programs to provide coordinated, responsive care as families' needs change.

JOURNEY PROGRAM / YOUNG PARENT SUPPORT

Journey Program supports young parents as they work toward academic, financial, and personal success. Through education, parenting support, life skills development, and individualized guidance, participants build the knowledge and confidence needed to create strong futures for themselves and their children. Being part of the Center for Families provides seamless access to counseling, case management, and other supportive services.

HOLIDAY / WINTER ASSISTANCE

Each holiday season, the Christmas / Winter Essentials Program provides brand-new clothing, winter essentials, toys, books, and games to more than 1,500 Maine children whose families are experiencing financial hardship. In addition to seasonal assistance, families can be connected to the broader support available through the Maine Children's Home Center for Families, including counseling, parenting support, and case management.
