With over 12 lakes, ponds, and streams along with hundreds of acres of farmlands and undeveloped woodlands, there is an abundance of opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, and enjoying the wildlife.
Winthrop boasts a number of places for relaxation and entertainment, including lakeside cottages, campgrounds and lodging facilities along with a selection of local restaurants and shops. Additionally, Winthrop hosts several fairs, festivals, and community events throughout the year that provide entertainment for all ages.
During the summer months, Winthrop’s population nearly doubles as part-year residents return to their seasonal camps and visitors enjoy Maine’s natural beauty.
