The City of Augusta is now accepting applicants for the position of Tax Collector/City Clerk/Deputy Treasurer. This hands-on position is responsible for administrative and financial work in the oversight and collection of various taxes as well as executing legal responsibilities of the position of City Clerk. Position supervises clerical staff engaged in tax collection and administrative activities and the preparation of regular reports to the City and various state agencies. Responsible for preparation of tax liens, maintaining vital records, issuance of various City licenses and renewals of same, supervising and coordinating processes of all election ballots and reporting results to Secretary of State. Also involved in the hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, budgeting and performance management of direct report staff. Works efficiently and provides superior customer service in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing a fast-paced office environment. Strong skills in administration, accuracy in handling finances, working with technology, and interpersonal communication are a must. A “no job too big or too small” attitude and strong dedication to public service are critical.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public or Business Administration or a related field, and a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience. Qualifying experience may be substituted for education on a year-to-year basis. A minimum of three years supervisory experience and customer relations experience is preferred. Pay range is Non-Union exempt,
Nonunion, Range 22 – $72,820 to $97,094
