Thomas College seeks to hire a Director of Safety and Security with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2020. The Director provides the administrative vision, leadership, guidance and supervision of a comprehensive Safety and Security Department. The Director insures department staffing for 24/7 coverage, oversees safety systems and equipment, provides the necessary follow up to campus incidents and safety concerns, implements prevention and educational programs, chairs the campus safety committee, and plays a primary role in the College’s emergency response team. The Director serves as a member of the Student Affairs team.
The successful candidate should have 3-5 years progressive experience in the areas of Safety and Security/Emergency Services, law enforcement or related field, have demonstrated decision making skills, well developed written and communication skills, supervisory experience, strong computer skills, understanding of current safety and security issues, and an ability to respond to emergency situations. A Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related field is preferred. A valid driver’s license, ability to pass the College’s vehicle and criminal background check are required. Although the primary shift for the Director is daytime, he or she must be able to work flexible shifts, including nights/weekends, when needed.
