Daniel Savage’s Reenacting Company in conjunction with Old Fort Western will celebrate Armistice / Veterans Day at Old Fort Western on Wednesday, November 11th from 10:00am-4:00pm. All veterans and the public are invited to attend.

At 11:00am Savages Company will lead a scout from the fort to the Riverside Cemetery. The public is invited to follow. A short ceremony will be given at the burial site of Captain Daniel Savage, a veteran of the Revolutionary War who led the original Savage Company in 1777-1779.

The Savage Company reenactors will then return to the Fort where they will drill and shoot their muskets for the last time this season.

From 10:00-4:00pm visitors can enjoy 18th century hearth demonstrations. Inside our kitchen and parlor experienced staff will demonstrate cooking with apples; how to make journey cakes, wafers, carrot pudding, and pies over an open hearth. Step into the past and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the 18th century!
