Gardiner - Benefit BBQ At The Free Waterfront Concert
Thursday, August 13, 2015, 06:00pm - 07:30pm
Hits : 2176

A benefit BBQ will happen alongside Johnson Hall's free outdoor concert with Tricky Britches at the Waterfront Park on Thursday, August 13th.

Gardiner Main Street has teamed up with area businesses and community groups to throw a huge "Thank You" party for the over 100 area firefighters from a dozen communities who responded the July 16th fire in Downtown Gardiner. This is our community's way of saying "Thank You" to those who answer our call for help and protect our lives and property. We're cooking out hamburgers and hotdogs, and serving pizza from Gerard's Pizza, which was damaged in the fire, but will be back open by then. After the firefighters are served, we'll sell food to the public. All proceeds after costs are covered will go to the fire relief fund.

Enjoy some great music from Tricky Britches while having some great food. Raised in Maine, cured on street corners and next to woodstoves, string band Tricky Britches is a unique culmination of country, contra-dance, bluegrass, and rock. The band formed in 2009, when four friends in Portland, Maine, took their fiddle tunes and country songs on the road across the United States. Since then
they have recorded two albums of original material: Hard Fought Day and Good Company. They have played on stages big and small, but at the end of the day, their favorite show is still on a crowded street corner at midnight.
