"Building Regional Partnerships to improve our community and showcase our strengths"

GenaCanning 1

It’s an exciting time for Central Maine! There’s a strong focus on economic growth and so much energy behind the redevelopment of our communities. Each project is an important piece to the overall vision, and we are all working toward a common goal of improving our community to attract more people to live, work, play and stay in Kennebec Valley. Imagine what could be achieved if we all worked collaboratively and created partnerships that supported one another. Imagine a region where every project was successful. We can only accomplish it all by working together.

Gena Canning is a managing Partner of Pine State Beverage, and has held multiple Executive roles within the organization since she began her professional career working for the family business in 1989. Gena is part of the third generation owner-operators of the Gardiner-based company that employs more than 450 people in Maine. She received her BA in Communications from American University in Washington, DC and is a 2018 graduate of The Kellogg Family Business Institute.

As an Augusta native and a major employer in the area, Gena’s vision for the future of Kennebec Valley is one that attracts families to the area, supports the local economy and workforce, and provides opportunity for future generations. She is actively involved in a wide variety of initiatives and organizations that support this vision. Gena currently serves as the Board Vice Chair and a Capital Campaign Tri-Chair for Boys & Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley, is the Board Vice Chair for Bangor Savings Bank, a recently appointed Board Member of The Mitchell Institute, and serves on the Kennebec County Fund Advisory Committee of the Maine Community Foundation.
