The Maine Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Standards is hosting its no-charge safety courses for employers and employees throughout February. Visit the class registration page or call 1-877-SAFE 345 (1-877-723-3345) to register for any class.“Maine’s SafetyWorks! program continues to educate businesses and employees about hazards in the workplace,” said Governor Paul R. LePage. “These no-cost classes teach everyone how they can prevent work-related illnesses, injuries, and deaths. I encourage you to visit safetyworksmaine.com to learn more and see their calendar of upcoming classes.”

Courses are held at no charge to employers and their employees in the SafetyWorks! Training Institute at the Maine Department of Labor, 45 Commerce Drive in Augusta unless otherwise noted.

Life Safety Code 101 --

This class will provide a working overview of National Fire Protection Association Standard 101 “Life Safety Code” for fire and life safety in the building environment. Topics covered will include classification of occupancy types, adequate means of egress, occupant load factors, and occupancy specific hazards to fire and life safety. The Life Safety Code is adopted in the State of Maine as the state code for fire and life safety in buildings. Class runs 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

IMPORTANT: Before you register, please read the following carefully.

About Our Classes: Classes are free, but you must register. If you register for a class and cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your seat to someone else.

Registration is on a first-come basis. Registration is limited to two people per company per class.

All participants receive SafetyWorks! certificates from the Maine Department of Labor. We can also deliver training at your workplace. Call 1-877-SAFE-345 for more information.

On behalf of people with chemical sensitivities, we kindly request that you do not wear fragrances to class.
