2015 Maine Genealogy Fair Scheduled for Saturday, July 11th
The Maine Genealogical Society and the Maine State Library have partnered to host the 2015 Maine Genealogy Fair. The Fair is the first of its kind in the state and will bring together genealogical and historical organizations from across Maine for an “information fest”. The “Brickwall Busters”, a panel of professional genealogists, will be available throughout the day to anyone seeking advice with their family history research. Staff from the State Library and State Archives will provide information on their genealogy collections, and the State Museum will have free admission!
The Maine State Library is home to the largest genealogy collection north of Boston as well as town histories and published vital records for Maine towns and cities, and for a sizeable portion of New England and the Maritime Provinces of Canada. The library also has a respectable collection of genealogy reference and methodology materials, offers classes, and monthly programs which are open to the public through its informal genealogy club.
