On Friday, August 7 from 5:30-8:00 p.m., ArtWalk Gardiner will showcase original fine art and crafts created by area artists who live and/or work within a 20-mile radius of Gardiner. Featuring unique works of art ranging from paintings, drawings, fine art prints and photography to textiles, sculpture, jewelry and ceramics, this lively community celebration will take place in artists' studios, galleries, shops, and other venues all along Water Street in Gardiner’s beautiful historic downtown.

First launched in 2005 by Artdogs™ studios and a handful of other area artists, the mission of Artwalk Gardiner is to increase community awareness and appreciation of the visual arts, to encourage interaction with local artists and the public, and to nurture a supportive network that also enhances the local economy. Since its inception, Artwalk Gardiner has drawn hundreds of appreciative visitors to Water Street to enjoy these festive evenings of great art and good cheer with area artists.

As in other recent years, this ArtWalk will feature hundreds of original works by more than two dozen local artists, including: Joyce Acheson, Karen Adrienne, Nancy Barron, Ken Carlson, John Carnes, Matt Demers, Angela Goodwin, John Gregoire, Scott King, Katherine Kollman, Kala Ladenheim, Allison McKeen, John Polhemus, Jennifer Strode, Ellen Roberts, Tanya Russell, Robert Saunders, Marylu Wellwood, and Tina Wood. The artists and artisans of Artdogs Studios, Circling the Square Fine Art Press, Cre8ive Events, Monkitree, and SpinOff Studio will also be offering work for sale.

In addition to filling the downtown with beautiful and unique artwork, Gardiner’s August ArtWalk will also include free refreshments, artists’ demonstrations, children’s activities such as "Chalk the Walk," and live music by Brian Kavanah and Stan Davis of “Hurry Down Sunshine.” A special reception for this year’s “Arts in the Park” sculptor, Jesse Salisbury, will be held at Circling the Square Fine Art Press at 6:30 p.m., and horse-drawn wagon rides to outlying venues will be provided by Meadow Creek Farm.

This season, ArtWalk Gardiner has been sponsored by Gardiner Food Co-op & Cafe, Healthy Smiles, Lisa’s Legit Burritos, Main E Market Etc., Mainiac Brewing & Supply, Monkitree, and Raggamuffins. Many other local businesses will also be hosting artists for the evening. Cost/Cover: Free
