Franco Am Heritage Ctr - Musee D Heritage:
( 8:30 - 4:30 )
The Franco Center s Working. The Franco Center, filled not only with historical artifacts but with the activities of education, art, and participation, is a living museum. Our current work as an organization is a testament to all who worked to build this structure, and build its name and renown across the region. Our facility houses an impressive archive of objects that help older residents remember and younger residents understand the ways of life that dominated this area of Lewiston known as Little Canada. The museum was started in 2005 after the major construction and renovation had finished in our Performance Hall. Our collection includes roughly 1000 artifacts, and the Musee displays are changed 2-3 times annually. All of the items on display have been generously donated by the community. In fact, many of the artifacts have come from the younger generations of legacy Franco-families, established in the Lewiston/Auburn area for over 100 years. The museum is open during the operating hours of the Center, from 8:30am 4:30pm M-F. Everyone is invited to come and tour the display during those hours. Concert attendees can also enjoy touring the displays, especially during intermission, at all of our events. Our staff is always on hand to offer a tour of our phenomenal facility, talk about the history, and walk our guests through the museum displays.

43rd Annual Kringleville in Waterville
Kringleville 2012! Dear Friends of Kringleville in Waterville, Maine, Well the Holiday Season is right around the corner and my elves in Central Maine are fast at work making sure everything is ready for my arrival on November 23rd. For 43 years, dedicated members of your community have worked very hard to make sure the Christmas Holiday is special in Waterville, Maine. Times sure have changed in the 43 years I have been visiting children at Castonguay Square. We have all experienced hardships and revitalizations, but one thing has stayed a constant and that is I LOVE visiting all of YOU each and every Holiday Season. This year, the Holiday Magic begins on Friday November 23rd with the Parade of Lights. I invite all of you to come and participate in the parade either as marchers, float entries or just spectators. Each year Main Street is lined with thousands of Holiday revelers and it brings joy to my heart as I make my way to Kringleville. Remember, this is the Parade of Lights and if you enter a float, we want it to have tons of lights. Nothing is more beautiful than the twinkling of Christmas Lights on a cool crisp night. Once at Kringleville, Mrs. Claus, Cinnamon the Elf and I will be open to visitors Wednesday thru Sunday (and a couple of Tuesdays, too!) until December 22nd. Our hours of operation are posted here on this website and are very important to know whereas I must maintain a very strict schedule in order for me to get all my visits and work in. Last year, nearly fifteen thousand people come through to visit with us from all over New England and beyond, and we got international media coverage as well. Many of you purchased our hand painted ornaments and many local families were helped thanks to your generosity. We do hope you will all once again come out and visit with us and make a difference in the life of others in 2012. So Dear Friends, I am counting the days until I am with you again. Before you know it the Magic of Christmas will be upon us and I will be hearing all your Christmas wishes. Remember to always try your best. Follow the Golden Rule and treat others the way you want to be treated and remember that Love is the greatest gift we can give one another not just at Christmas, but everyday of the year. Please know that I love all of you and can't wait to see you. Until then remember: Believing is Seeing . Your Friend Forever, Santa Claus

Gardiner Main Street "Days of Light"
Downtown Gardiner glows with warmth and light as the community uncovers the true spirit of the season. Celestial song lead by the choral group Mainely Harmony helps Gardiner residents summons the magic of the holidays by bringing to light the official tree in Downtown Gardiner from 5:30 to 6:30pm on Saturday, Dec. 1st. The glow from these lights endures throughout the month of December as a number of events help to make the season bright. The day of December 1st is full of events. Holiday craft fairs will be held at numerous locations in town. The Gardiner Public Library s Annual Book Sale will begin. Have a Go at Gardiner, an event of the Gardiner Heart and Soul project, will take place from 2-4 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club on Pray Street. Gardiner residents will share what is important to them about Gardiner through a series of fun events for all ages. Next, decorate Grinch Heart cookies at the Who-liday Bakery in Johnson Hall. There will be a contest for the best Cindy-Lou-Who look-alike. The winner will ride in the holiday parade the following weekend. The holidays are an important time of the year for the community to come together to celebrate in Downtown, the heart and soul Gardiner, says Patrick Wright, director of Gardiner Main Street. Friday evening, Dec. 7th features the annual holiday Art Walk, as a number of Downtown galleries and businesses feature work from local artists from 5:30pm until 8:30 p.m. During this time, Gardiner businesses will be open late, offering a candlelight shopping opportunity for those wishing to support local businesses by purchasing gifts or gift certificates. The following morning, Water Street will be lined with spectators as community groups march Downtown in advance of the guest of honor, Santa Claus. This year s parade theme is Who s Your Favorite Who . Santa has taken time out of his busy schedule to meet with boys and girls in Johnson Hall directly after the parade. The public is invited to linger downtown, and will have the opportunity to ride in the horse drawn wagon that carries St. Nick in the parade. People of all faiths are invited to celebrate Hannukah at the A-1 Diner on December 9th from 2-4:30 p.m. with a traditional Latke (potato pancake) party. New to Downtown Gardiner this year, Gardiner Youth Hockey presents A Festival of Trees on the waterfront December 21st. This winter solstice party features visits with Santa, carolers, dancers, and a silent auction. Dozens of holiday tress will be decorated in various themes. Gardiner Main Street encourages everyone in the capital area to shop locally this holiday season. Our downtowns are filled with unique shops offering uncommon gifts and experiences with knowledgeable and friendly merchants. Pop-Up Stores and the 5th Annual Pottery Shoppe by the Central Maine Clay Artists have the storefronts bursting at the seams. For those shoppers not sure what to get for loved ones, Gardiner Main Street has again arranged for Gift of Gardiner local gift checks to be sold at The Bank of Maine, 190 Water Street. These gift checks, worth $20, can be redeemed at over 30 Gardiner locations. Gardiner s Days of Light are a way to celebrate our unique history, culture, and community during the holidays.
